Most of the time, that does not occur, particularly in Horticulture. look at this now , like Home Depot and Wal Mart, are where you want your product in my business. I'm fortunate sufficient to be a vendor at both of those companys. With Wal Mart, the seller chooses how product shall be disposed of whether it is unsellable, choice one is return to vendor and choice two is destroy.
I've watched folks buy vegetation for centerpieces at parties only to return them for a refund when their party was over. It's easy to place blame when you don't perceive the internal workings of a business and all that goes on. Most of the time we don't even have a say so on what plants come to us from our vendors. The vendors themselves ship what they suppose will promote.
I too suppose it's sad to see crops grown, and if they cannot generate income anymore, thrown in trash. It's a disgrace, our disposable society and its methods.
